Twas the day before Founders

The Founding Fever...

‘Twas the day before Founders’, and all ‘long the canals
Industrious W+Kers look forward to a day out with our pals
Where we will be going, no one has a clue
But it’s sure to be good, no matter where we get to
 
We will be guided by Pam, our tireless mistress of ceremonies
She says the bus leaves ‘round 2, but for all we know, we could end up on ponies
All week everyone’s been asking what to wear, and what we’ll end up doing
One thing we know for sure is that it will include drinks created by brewing
 
‘Tis our first Founders Celebration on the actual day
We used to do it in July, til Dan and Dave said ‘no way’
And so April 1st it is, for our Amsterdam gang
We’ll be out of the office tomorrow, back Monday with a bang.

The butterfly. Why?

Random thoughts from The Equalizer, a man trying to balance the universe.

In the world of aquatic sports has there ever been a more vulgar display of manhood invented than the butterfly? “Look at me” it screams pathetically to all those who could be bothered to observe. Unlike the functional fluidity of freestyle, or the laconic grace of breaststroke, the butterfly is all huff and puff and macho physicality, designed purely for show. Ask yourself this:  "Should the boat you’re in suddenly capsize would you ever dream of swimming to safety using the butterfly?" Of course not! Unless you wanted to die as the most pompous man on earth. No, this insecure stroke fails to inspire. It is rude and flashy and is one Olympic event that I won't be watching.

Number One in a series.

Welcome to the first installment of our new series, "Amsterdam: You shouldn't be able to do this." And, you really shouldn't. Seriously. Is this town for real? It seems wrong, doesn't it, when work feels like a day spent hanging out with your friends. When you get to wear sunglasses through an entire Coca Cola meeting. And in the corner of your eye, you can see Johnny loading up a few Heineken kegs for the post-agency meeting drinks. Should you be able to do this? No. But we do.

 

Our blog grows up. Again.

So this is Our Dam Blog. It used to be our Wieden and Kennedy Likes You blog. And before that, our Think Global, Act Stupid blog. As you can see we are great at updating blog names but not at updating blogs. Our denial continues with yet another facelift. Only this time we really are going to blog. We are going to blog our faces off. And when we have blogged our faces off we will blog our torsos off and then move on to our arms and legs and feet leaving only our hands so that we can continue to blog. You may have noticed that we also did not blog our heads off, only our faces. So we still have our brains and hands. Which we need. So we can blog. 

Those Dancing Days

What’s better than five, young women from Sweden giving a dazzling musical performance at your work? Well… nothing. Those Dancing Days are an indie-pop group compromised of five talented ladies, and on Monday they played a set for us in the W+K kitchen. On tour for their second album, they could have been roaming the canal streets or set up in a café, but instead they charmed their way into our hearts.
